My name is Shannon Pate.
I live in sunny San Diego, CA
Although my first sip of wine was when I was just nine months old (long story...) my real interest in this magical beverage began at age 26. Of course I quenched my thirst with it since age 21 (Err, yup, I swear, Mom! Age 21...) but eventually I grew thirsty for the hows, wheres, whats and whys behind the wine.
So I signed up for a Wine 101 class! At the end of class, the instructor announced that she also offers Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) certification courses if anyone was interested. I was interested, and I was hooked. And as of 2016 I became certified in WSET Levels 2 & 3.
I started The Frugal Grape as a way to put my education into practice as I studied through the WSET courses. I don't have the budget for fancy, expensive wines (and neither do most people), so my whole brand revolves around reviewing affordable wines and enjoying delicious wines while also saving a buck. That's the obvious part of my "frugal" concept. The other part is not being wasteful. Ok, ok, maybe that's just how I'm justifying the fact that I like to drink a lot of wine, but so what?
I am going to sip, savor and appreciate every last drop in that bottle or glass, and I invite you to do the same.
